CLASS COMPETITIONThere will be class dress-up days throughout the week and the class having the highest percentage of students dressed up will be the winner. Counts will take place during KLHS-TV. Each teacher may use his or her own judgment as to whether or not a student “counts”. The best-dressed student each day will receive complimentary dance tickets. Teachers who believe that they have a winning student in their 4th hour class should send them to the commons (in front of the guidance office) during KLHS for judging. Teachers should take a student count during their 5thhour class each day and enter the results into the Google document emailed from Ms. Ramsey.
Dress-up Days are as follows: Monday: "Shocked" Crazy Hair DayTuesday: "Blackout" Day (Wear All Black)Wednesday: "We're So Bright" Smarty Pants DayThursday: "Energized Jays" Blue Jay Spirit DayFriday: No School, but everyone is encouraged to wear NEON to the basketball game.
KING & QUEEN ELECTIONSApplications to run for King or Queen will be accepted through February 1stat 3pm. The first round of voting will take place beginning Monday, February 6that 7:00am. The senior class will have through Noon on February 8thto cast their vote and narrow the candidate pool to the Top 10. An announcement of the Top 10 candidates will be made at the end of the day on February 8th.
On February13th at 7:00am, voting will open to the entire student body to select king and queen winners. Students will receive a link via school email which will remain open through 4pm on February 15th. All 20 candidates will be presented at the assembly, game, & dance. The top three finalists will be announced during the Pep Assembly on Thursday. The King & Queen will be announced during half-time at the basketball game Friday night.
SPIKE-IT-UP VOLLEYBALL GAME-WEDNESDAY24 Juniors and 24 Seniors will face each other in a co-ed Volleyball Competition on Wednesday night, February 15that 7:30pm. Featured players represent 22 sports teams and 10-15 LHS organizations. Admission is $5.00 and all proceeds will go to benefit our own Special Olympians. Come out and support your favorite player! Students, friends, family, and the public are strongly encouraged to attend.
ASSEMBLY–THURSDAYThe Thursday afternoon pep rally will begin at Noon. Students and organizations will be encouraged to participate in this fun event. The assembly will last approximately 45 minutes. Student attendance is optional; however buses will run on the regular schedule. Due to parent teacher conferences, Thursday will be a half day and busses will be leaving at approximately 12:50pm. Students will be dismissed from school after the rally.
SENIOR GIRLS LOCK-IN—THURSDAY NIGHT This annual event for senior girls will begin at 10pm on Thursday night. The girls will stay overnight and will be released at 5:30am on Friday morning. A fun-filled night of activities is planned. Registration will begin the week of January 30th. Deadline to register and receive a t-shirt will be February 8th.
GAME--FRIDAY NIGHT The Courtwarming basketball game will be held at 7:00pm at Cokely Fieldhouse. During the halftime ceremony, results of the spirit competitions will be announced. Additionally, the Courtwarming court will be introduced and the King & Queen will be crowned.
