Dear Liberty Academy Families,
Welcome Liberty Academy students and parents! I am ready to see our returning students, and I’m anxious to get to know the new students at LA! The summer has been fun and relaxing for my family, and I hope it has been for you all as well. If you haven’t noticed, the school supplies are taking over the stores, which reminds me that school is right around the corner!
Registration is August 2nd between the hours of 3:00-6:00 OR August 3rd from 9:00-12:00. Students should NOT attend registration at their home school; we have simplified the process and offer everything needed. At registration students will receive their schedules, update health information, get their MacBook (if insurance is paid), put money on lunch account, and have the ability to purchase optional items (yearbook, athletic pass, etc.) if desired. We strongly encourage everyone to attend!
Liberty Public Schools provides a MacBook for every high school student. It is highly recommended for families to purchase insurance for the device. This covers any accidental damage that happens at school or at home, as well as if the device becomes lost or stolen. The insurance fee is $40 with a $50 per incident deductible (not including screens). If you have been approved for the free and reduced lunch program, the cost is $20 for insurance and a $25 per incident deductible (not including screens). (Free and reduced lunch applications must be completed every year; these will be available at registration or complete online at https://www.schoolmealapp.com/Register.aspx.) The insurance can only be paid online at http://www.one2onerisk.com with a credit card. To pay with cash, one can purchase a prepaid card from the school office to purchase the insurance online. Please visit http://leads.liberty.k12.mo.us/faq1 for additional information regarding device insurance.
All students are eligible for bus services to Liberty Academy. Students ride the routed bus (need to opt-in for transportation at http://tinyurl.com/h5dgy6p) to their home high school, and the LA shuttle bus departs from the high schools at 8:00 am and brings them to the Academy. LNHS shuttle is bus #402; LHS shuttle is bus #441. Parking is also available at Liberty Academy, and it is free. However, students MUST park on the south end of the LA lot (not at the community center) and display the official parking pass. To obtain a parking pass, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is needed. For the safety of everyone, any car riders will form a line for drop-off/pick-up instead of occupying a parking space in the front of the building.
As students return this fall they will see some different faces at school. We are excited to welcome the following staff members:
- Mr. John Blesz: Recovery Room Instructor
- Mr. Chad Brinkmeyer: Math
- Mr. Theo Fundermann: Science
- Ms. Andrea Johnson: Full-time social worker
- Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Johnson at 736-5470 or email@example.com if she can be helpful to your student or family.
- Dr. James Wrolstad: Music Appreciation
- Ms. Erin Zubeck: Health/History
- Officer Caton: Security
- Mrs. Lisa Augustine: Missouri Option/Flex Progams 8:20-11:20 AM
As students consider their clothing choices for school, please adhere to the LPS dress code. Recommended school supplies for LA include a few spiral notebooks, writing utensils, ear buds, and a backpack (we don’t have lockers).
Finally, stay connected with us throughout the year! Find us on Facebook as Liberty Academy or Twitter @LibAcademy! However, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call or email.
